PESARO Never has so much time been spent carrying out nourishment on our beaches as at the beginning of the season. Bulldozers still among the swimmers, Friday afternoon in Ponente. Even though the last sand fills are now almost complete, the inconveniences have been evident, and the lifeguards point out, erosion has returned to Levante, despite the nourishment of about ten days ago.
The snags
«Something in the planning prior to the interventions from Ponente to Levante and Sottomonte did not work – say the operators – and also the quantity of sand brought by bulldozers to the beach, based on the resources allocated by the Administration in recent months, was much lower compared to a summer ago.” At Bagni Le Poste, near Villa Marina, it was quite impressive to see the bulldozers working on the shoreline among bathers in the water and others walking. The coming and going of vehicles started at the beginning of last week when the establishments on the last stretch on the port side between the beaches of La Cira, Le Poste, Lido del Carabiniere and Bagni Tino were missing. «A nourishment that does not solve the needs of us operators – comments Marco De Biagi, of Bagni le Poste – the majority of us needed much more sand but chance or rather bad luck, meant that the bad weather of the last few days, every other week it prevented businesses from working continuously. And so we arrived long and with fluctuating weather especially on weekends when in addition to seasonal guests, the hotels begin to fill up with tourists. Erosion? It’s not the nourishments that make a season. It happens that due to a play of currents, which is worth investigating further, all the sand brought by the bulldozers is taken away by the sea within 24 hours. In other words, money spent but thrown to the wind, and with inconvenience for us operators in being able to satisfy everyone. In my concession, the work was completed on Friday, yet due to a structural problem I have to live with 20 fewer umbrellas.”
The situation
Same situation at Bagni Baronciani: «Here the nourishment has finished – comments Antonella Baronciani – but neither the wind nor the sea have helped, in fact the sand brought has almost almost disappeared. This is how we started in May and this is how we find ourselves now. There is a movement of bathers, tourists are arriving here in the hotels behind, yet I was forced to remove a row of umbrellas, and I don’t have an excess of umbrellas even compared to a summer ago. Which is why I chose not to renew the season passes, precisely to be able to provide answers to the various hotels in the center of Ponente, otherwise the risk is always the same, not having enough beach and umbrellas”. «Work still not completed in Ponente vero, but here the erosion has returned again – Andrea Ranocchi of Bagni Marevivo 24 spreads his arms – in similar conditions, there are also establishments such as Bagni Gabri, Bagni Irene and others – it is true that they have brought back the sand, but here the erosion has returned after almost a year to make itself felt stronger, and honestly that intervention to thicken the cliffs carried out in spring 2023 in the center of Levante, under the outgoing Administration, was not sufficient because it skipped the initial concessions of this stretch, from Bagni Irene to Bagni Iole.
The means
Returning to the timing, it should be remembered that between my concession and Bagni Gabri on June 4th there was a bulldozer that had remained stationary for days, and so this year the nourishment works that the Municipality promised were a semi-disaster with a bulldozer outside use and another which shortly thereafter broke down again, delaying the completion of the works”.
