So theAvellino closed the chapter linked to the season which ended with second place in group C of Serie C and with the playoff semi-final lost against Vicenza to dedicate himself completely to the year with the curtain on July 1st.
Continuity for the new challenge and for objective B
The ownership opted for continuity to experience a new challenge together: for the D’Agostino family in the two-year project, opened with Giorgio Perinetti last summer, and remodeled with the change on the bench after just two days of the championship with the arrival of Michele Pazienza, there is the margin to finalize the path and achieve the objective, renewed with even more force yesterday morning at the press conference. The green and white club wants Serie B and aims to win the championship.
3-5-2 formation, squad to be thinned out, but some chance of revival
We will start again from the 3-5-2 structured throughout the first season with the San Severo coach on the bench and a summer session is expected in which Avellino will be called upon more for exits than for arrivals by virtue of the 31 members under contract (Julian Illanes was redeemed by Carrarese after promotion to the cadets). Pazienza has already drawn up the list of confirmed players, but also of some players who have been sacrificed for immediate needs in the run-up to the season and who could have a chance in retirement.
Retreat to San Gregorio in the second half of July
Summer preparation will be developed at Saint Gregory the Great. Only the official announcement is missing, but Perinetti has confirmed the venue and Avellino will start again from the municipality in the province of Salerno with the first official match scheduled for the beginning of August in Italian Cup: it will be an away match against Juventus Stabia for the preliminary round of the national competition.
Goalkeeper “case to solve”, but not the only one
There will be a squad of 31 players and a starting lineup with two empty slots on July 1st because Lorenzo Sgarbi for the attack e Simone Ghidotti between the posts they have already said goodbye to Avellino returning from loans from Napoli and Como respectively. The goalkeeper case “is a case to be resolved” and this is how Perinetti himself defined it, also linking it to other needs for the staff. The director of the technical area did not hide some serious errors, but also the many clean sheets guaranteed in an experience which, however, the goalkeeper owned by the Larians did not experience with a particular feeling with the environment and the fans. There is a list ready for the 2024/2025 starter who will be chosen in collaboration with the technical staff.
