In recent days, State Police personnel arrested a 39-year-old man, in execution of an Order for the application of a precautionary measure in prison, since he is seriously suspected of the crime of mistreatment towards his wife, as well as other crimes related to it, such as damage and theft, abduction of a minor without the mother’s consent and driving without a licence, crimes aggravated by the habitual state of drunkenness of the abuser.
The provision comes at the conclusion of a rapid and intense investigative activity coordinated by the local Public Prosecutor’s Office and launched following a complaint/complaint filed by the party at the local Police Headquarters.
The policemen, specialized in dealing with crimes against people belonging to the so-called category. vulnerable groups, listened to the woman, collecting detailed descriptions of the various episodes of mistreatment.
The victim, in particular, retraced the period of cohabitation, tracing, on the one hand, a cross-section of authentic suffering for herself and her children and, on the other, the behavior of the man, who mortified the woman with continuous orders and punishments, accompanied by daily acts of violence.
Coexistence has always been turbulent, punctuated by violent episodes on the part of the man, with frequent attacks on the woman with slaps, spitting and even throwing objects.
The escalation of violence in recent weeks has seen the man as the protagonist of the episode, when today’s arrested man, in a drunken state, at the height of yet another argument with his wife, took his minor son with him to get driving a car.
The woman, terrified, called the police. The policemen from the flying squad, who intervened promptly, managed to stop the man in the car in which he was traveling with the child. The victim decided to move away permanently from the marital home together with her children.
A few hours after the episode, the man phoned the woman to threaten her and then showed up outside the victim’s new home.
The individual hurled his anger towards the woman’s car, shattering the windshield with kicks, taking away her mobile phone, before the police officers arrived and blocked it.
The investigation activity, started by the Flying Squad personnel and coordinated by the Public Prosecutor of Cosenza, found its epilogue in the execution of the precautionary measure, confirming the commitment, particular attention and sensitivity of the men of the local Police Headquarters , directed by the Police Commissioner of the Province of Cosenza, Dr. Giuseppe Cannizzaro, in tackling the phenomenon of gender violence and the protection of the so-called vulnerable groups with careful and timely intervention.
The man was arrested and associated with the local prison.
All this is communicated in compliance with the rights of the suspect (to be considered presumed innocent in consideration of the current phase of the proceedings until a definitive finding of guilt with an irrevocable sentence) in order to guarantee the right to the press.
