Roofs uncovered, including at the Ponte Nossa middle school, fallen trees, flooding and two people trapped in their car hit by a plant, fortunately without serious consequences or serious injuries. This is the outcome of the wave of bad weather that hit the Bergamo area late yesterday afternoon, as well as a large part of Lombardy (Milan, Lecco, Pavia and Lodi were the most affected areas).. In the space of half an hour, between 8pm and 8.30pm, the water bomb also crossed our entire province, from the western Bassa to the Seriana valley, passing through the capital. And if in the city of Bergamo the violent downpour (hail also appeared here and there) caused no damage, as it did in the Brembana valley, the Seriana valley suffered the worst.
In via Cinque Martiri a Vertova, the road that leads from the town to the waterfalls, just before 8.30 pm a plant hit a passing car. The two occupants were extracted by the firefighters and one was entrusted to the care of 118 personnel, who arrived with an ambulance from the Blue Cross of Gromo: fortunately he did not suffer any serious injuries. But the fear was great. Vertova itself was one of the towns at the epicenter of the wave of bad weather. The roof of a private house collapsed on the next street, via Cinque Martiri, while not far away part of a warehouse fell onto a parked truck.
Similar collapses also in the center of Nossa Bridge: in via San Bernardino the roof of a house flew into the street in a few moments, at number 15, without hitting anyone. The same happened in nearby Via Roma. In both cases the firefighters intervened. But Ponte Nossa also recorded probably the most extensive damage: a good part of the roofing of the middle school building and the neighboring gymnasium detached from the roof and ended up on Viale Rimembranze in front. Also in this case no people or vehicles were hit, but the collapse damaged the institute’s fence.
Same type of collapse in the street also Albano Sant’Alessandro, along the Tonale state road 42, near the Eni service station: in this case it was the sheet metal roof of a company. Firefighters on site. Fallen or unsafe trees were then reported in Ponte Nossa, in via Cavour, a Nembro, in via Oriolo, on provincial road 36 and on 671 at the exit for Albino. Tree also fell a Gornoin the Fondo Ripa area, as well as ad Albino on the road that leads to the Casale hamlet: in this case the road remained necessarily closed. Same fate also for the Padana Superiore state road Treviglio, where a large plant occupied the entire roadway right on the overpass of the Milan-Venice railway line, not far from the hospital. The road was closed until late in the evening, with traffic diverted into the Via Pasteur underpass. This was the only damage caused by last night’s wave of bad weather in the Bassa.
Some problems also in the hinterland: tra Curno And Treviolo a power cable fell on the road that runs along state road 470. The cable was made safe by the firefighters. TO Ponteranica the garage of a building was flooded. Finally, in the evening the carabinieri of the Clusone company intervened in the party area of Clusone where it was necessary to remove all those present from the tensile structure because it was considered unsafe due to the consequences of the bad weather wave.
