The stretch of provincial road serving Comiso airport has reopened to vehicular traffic. The important works, carried out by the Free Municipal Consortium of Ragusa, have in fact been completed.
In detail, the substantial intervention worth 31 million euros concerned the construction of the entire road section connecting the SP 5, the construction of the roundabout at the airport entrance and the temporary arrangement of the provincial road n.5 “Vittoria – Cannamellito – Pantaleo” from the airport to the intersection with the new road axis.
“This is a further step forward for the overall improvement of the infrastructure of the province of Ragusa as well as the safety of the road network serving the Comiso airport”, declares the Extraordinary Commissioner Patrizia Valenti. “Thanks go to the President of the Region Renato Schifani, who since the start of his mandate, to support the development of the agri-food economy of the Iblean territory, has considered the construction of the cargo terminal at Comiso airport to be strategic, allocating the financial resources right within the Cohesion Agreement, which she signed a few weeks ago with Prime Minister Meloni, which will allow the execution of lots 1 and 2 to complete the connections between the SS 514 and the SS 115 passing through the Comiso airport and the Vittoria autoport, an extremely important artery not only for the development of Comiso airport, but also in relation to the infrastructural interventions already underway for the doubling of the SS 514 (Ragusana) and the SS 115 variant in correspondence with the Municipalities of Comiso and Vittoria”, added Commissioner Valenti.
