Game two, Parma Clima another defeat against Bologna.

Parma Clima suffered their second defeat of the weekend this afternoon, being overtaken by Bologna with a score of 2-1.

The ducals can complain about a series of episodes that could have given a very different direction to the match. In the first inning they failed to materialize a situation with runners on second and third base with no outs, they gave Bologna the first point with a defensive error, they missed the pass in the sixth inning and ended the match with a guilty “caught off base” by Scerrato.

Bocchi’s excellent performance on the mound was useless. The Ducal pitcher threw six excellent innings, allowing only one earned run, five hits and one base ball.

The news

Parma Clima showed up on the pitch with the same lineup as in the first match. The obvious change on the mound with Matteo Bocchi as starting pitcher is unique.

Frignani instead gave Borghi a rest by inserting Bertossi on the left outside and changed his line-up by moving Fernandez to the eighth spot with Agretti to second. The first ball of the match went into the hands of Filippo Crepaldi.

The pitcher from Rovigo started the match by hitting Angioi and found guest runners on second and third base with no one out after a valid bunt by Battioni and a throwing error by Liberatore. However, the heart of the Parma line-up was unable to produce points with the two Gonzalez eliminated on the fly by the infielders and Encarnacion strikeout.

On the other hand, Bocchi started the match convincingly and consecutively struck out the first seven batters he faced. To see a runner on base again it was necessary to wait until the third inning when Angioi snatched a base ball and advanced to second thanks to a ball hit by Battioni. The second half, however, ended with Noel Gonzalez’s elimination at the plate. At the changeover Bocchi got himself into trouble by missing the assist at first base after a weak hit by Fernandez – mysteriously classified as a hit – who advanced to third on the error. Bologna proved to be more concrete and went one-nil with a single to the right by Paolini.

After those of Saccardi and Gerali in the first match, the moment of expulsion also arrived in the fourth inning for Fanfoni, guilty of having protested to the home plate umpire after having reported to him that he had forgotten a ball in Luis Gonzalez’s account.

Crepaldi’s excellent performance (5rl, 0pgl, 1bvc, 1bb, 1hbp, 4so) ended after five rounds. To secure the Bolognese success, Alex Bassani was called to work. The relief started by eliminating Angioi but then suffered a deep double right from Battioni. The next hit by Noel Gonzalez (also generously classified as a triple) brought the equalizing point with the home team avoiding overtaking with a masterful defense by Martina, who did well to neutralize a violent serve by Desimoni.

On this occasion, Parma Clima wasted the opportunity to reverse the score with Encarnacion and, punctually, Fortitudo took the lead again after the change of ends. Helder hit a double to left and, with two outs, Liberatore hit a single to center to bring his lead to 2-1.

Parma Clima faced the seventh round with the bottom of the line-up. Astorri hit a long fly ball to left that was neutralized by Bertossi on the warning track, Ascanio fueled the ducal hopes with a single to center, Scerrato (pinch hitter for Flisi) fielded a ball for an easy double play that Bologna missed settling for the out at second and Angioi was hit for the second time. The guests’ remaining chances thus passed to the bat of Tommaso Battioni who was unable to express himself in the box due to the naive elimination in which Scerrato ran into, caught far from the second base cushion.

The third match will be played this evening at 8.30pm.
