The Regional Festival of Sacred Music is the protagonist between Tione and Trento with the performances of the Choir in Dulci Jubilo and the orchestra the Philarmonics

TRENT. After the notes of nineteenth-century Trentino liturgical music proposed by Choir of S. Lucia di Magrasthe 53rd edition of Regional Festival of Sacred Music returns to the spectacular nature of the symphonic vocal pages with the collaboration of Choir In sweet jubilo”, emanation of theDiocesan Institute of Sacred Music and directed by Tarcisio Battisti with the Orchestra The Trento Philharmonics”, both consolidated realities in the vast panorama of musical associations.

Double the appointment, in Parish church of Tioneat 8.30pm Saturday 15 Juneand in Church of San Francesco Saverioat 6pm Sunday 16 Junethe latter also included in the program of Christmas Eve celebrations.

There are many interesting ideas in the programme, which presents, as its centrepiece, with three out of five issues, the “romantic” Mendelssohna composer inexplicably little considered, except for the famous one Elias Oratory, in the large amount of choral music, mostly sacred, intended for the Lutheran liturgy but also for other faiths, such as the Huguenot, Catholic and Anglican churches. The overture of the poster opens with the delicate sounds of the female choir with the organ proposing the motet Surrexit pastor bonus, coming from op 39, inspired by the composer in 1830 by listening to the “wonderfully beautiful” singing of the cloistered nuns in the church of Trinità dei Monti in Rome.

With a view to also valorising native composers, the motet will be listened to Beatus qui intelligit composed, again for female choir and organ, by Iginio Dapreda, musician originally from the Giudicarie Valleys, generous artist and teacher, prominent musical figure in the compositional field throughout the entire 20th century. The page is unpublished and is executed for the first timecourtesy of his niece, Giacinta Dapreda. From the choir we will then move into the nave where the orchestra will take its place, taking up the Mendelsshonnian thread with theOvertureThe Hebrides” and then with the Psalm 42 Wie der Hirsch schreit nach frischem Wasser (Like the doe longs for fresh water) composed for soloist, choir and orchestra in 1837 and attributable among the composer’s highest pages, with the wonderful aria of the soprano Meine Seele dürstet nach Gott (My soul thirsts for God), accompanied by the oboe and entrusted to the voice of Ukrainian soprano Daria Matiienko and the mighty choirs of praise to the Lord.

To further embellish the program, a tribute is added, on the occasion of the eighty-one years, to Monsignor Valentino Miserachs Grau (choral director and composer, former Master and Prefect of the Liberian Musical Chapel of the Papal Basilica of Santa Maria Maggiore and Dean of the Pontifical Institute of Sacred Music in Rome), of which a sequence for choir and orchestra will be proposed from the second act of the oratorio Blessed Virgo Mariaa music of intense religious lyricism which, sublimating poetic images into sound sensations, penetrates directly into the most intimate fibers of the soul to open it to a wonderful vision of the Mother of the Lord.

The maestro on the podium Alessandro Arnoldo, Trentino, born in 1989, graduated from the “Giuseppe Verdi” in Milan and with a curriculum in continuous evolution through the concertation of numerous orchestral and choral groups throughout Europe.
