“The result achieved by the Civic Pact in the local elections is of great importance: one in four Avellino citizens chose to support us. This means that our votes in the run-off will be decisive”. This morning, Rai journalist Rino Genovese summoned the press to the electoral committee in Piazza Libertà to take stock of the situation. After meeting the two mayoral candidates who reached the ballot, Genovese discussed the upcoming deadlines for official appearances.

Genovese had cordial and constructive meetings with both Antonio Gengaro and Laura Nargi. However, he clarified: “Every decision must be made with the support of the 150 candidates who accompanied me in my candidacy for mayor and, obviously, under certain conditions.”

In his speech, Genovese showed a certain inclination towards Nargi’s civic project, underlining that Gengaro is too tied to a party logic that does not reflect the philosophy of the Civic Pact. However, Genovese does not exclude any alliance and, indeed, proposes it: “I cannot make agreements with those who want to talk exclusively about parties. I cannot discuss with those who have already locked down their councils. We want to actively participate in the administrative management for the implementation of the program, not for mere management of power. We ask to share a common vision for the good of the city”. Genovese concludes his speech by inviting both candidates to political maturity, reiterating that the decision of the Civic Pact will be decisive.
