On Wednesday morning, the staff of the Cagliari Flying Squad reported four foreign citizens, two boys and two girls aged between 19 and 24, originally from Romania, for the alleged crime of fraud in competition with each other.

The agents intervened at the “I Fenicotteri” shopping center after a report had been received regarding the presence of two women who, pretending to be deaf and dumb, were asking for money from customers who entered the business.

The policemen, recalling very recent similar events involving Eastern European citizens, in particular on the evening of 10 June in the central Piazza Yenne, identified a car with a Romanian license plate in the parking area of the shopping centre, proceeding to identify the occupants.

During the search of the vehicle, the officers allegedly found an envelope containing fake fundraising forms plus a crumpled one which reported signatures, postal codes and city names as well as the sums received as donations from unsuspecting citizens. The sum of the amounts indicated in the form amounted to 270 euros. Furthermore, a payment receipt was also found, for an amount of 450 euros, made by one of the people arrested in favor of his father.

According to reports, the personal search carried out on the two couples led to the discovery of a further 347 euros, while in the subsequent search of some campers in use by them the sum of 560 euros was found, divided into banknotes of various denominations. Overall, the sum of approximately 1,200 euros was found and seized, believed to be the proceeds of the illicit activity.

At the end of the investigations, the four were reported in a state of freedom for the hypothesis of the crime of fraud in collaboration with each other.
