Next weekend at Scolacium Park two events to celebrate the European Days of Archaeology which, like every year, take place in the third weekend of June.

Since 2010, the Ministry of Culture in France has entrusted Inrap, the National Institute of Preventive Archaeological Research, with the coordination and promotion of the National Archeology Days (Journées nationales de l’archéologie or JNA).

In 2019, the JNA (Journées nationales de l’archéologie, or national archeology days) opened its doors to Europe. Eighteen countries participated for the first time; from 2020 the days are called European Days of Archaeology (Journées européennes de l’archéologie or JEA).

Also the Scolacium Museum and National Archaeological Park – together with Regional Directorate of Museums Calabria – joined the project, proposing two events for Saturday 15th And Sunday 16 Juneboth at 6pm.

Saturday 15 June will be dedicated to the meeting “Culinary ars, traditions, recipes and curiosities on the table of the ancient Romans” – edited by the Park Officials Valentina Montesano And Natasha Sorrentino – which will be followed by a themed workshop dedicated to the little ones (the workshop requires booking, as it has a limited number of places).

Sunday 16 June the appointment “Let’s dismantle the theater” it will instead be a meeting intended to deepen knowledge and stimulate a new debate on Roman theatre Of Scolacium, a more complex monument than it appears. The appointment will see the intervention of the Park Director Dr Elisa Nistico and, after a phase dedicated to viewing the remains of the theater on site, a reconstructive diorama of the theater in 1:50 scale will be presented for the first time, curated by the Arch. Vincenzo Dornetti.

Two unmissable opportunities to deepen your knowledge of a place of considerable interest in the regional panorama. For information (and reservations for the children’s workshop) you can call or write to 3358313971.
