The investigations into the operation called “Taboo” from Catania they have also been extended to Avellino. The men of the postal police carried them out. But there are several Italian cities where officers carried out searches: Roma, Milan, Brescia, Varese, Bergamo, Catanzaro, Bari, Foggia, Turin, Cuneo, Genoa, Imperia, Livorno, Prato, Ravenna, Ascoli Piceno. The material seized during the searches is being examined by the investigating magistrates and the Postal Police for further investigative investigations also useful for the identification of the young victims and therefore there could be further developments in the investigation.
Measures
There are nine flagrant arrests made by the state police during a vast operation called “Tabu'”, throughout the national territory to combat online child pornography, coordinated by the Catania district attorney’s office. The investigation, conducted by the Operational Center for Cyber Security of the Postal Police of Catania, made it possible to investigate 26 people throughout Italy for possession and dissemination of child pornography material, subjected to personal and computer searches.
The investigations
The investigations, coordinated by the National Center for the fight against Online child pornography (Cncpo) of the Postal Police Service, began with a complex computer analysis activity on some electronic devices seized from a suspect, arrested months ago for the same conduct, on which – within a messaging platform – groups had been found dedicated to exchanging gruesome images and videos, with abuse even of very young children. Meticulous and complex investigations, even of an extremely technical nature, led to the identification of the subjects active in the groups, against whom the prosecutor’s office issued personal and computer search orders.
