attack on the Lucky Bar, thieves arrested by the police

The (stolen) car left running just outside the bar; the daring escape from the windows of the place where they had just slipped in to steal. All in vain: the police stopped the two criminals, with a string of precedents behind them, before they could escape. Caught in the act of committing a crime, they were put in handcuffs for aggravated theft in competition.

It happened on the night between Friday 14th and Saturday 15th June in the city. What allowed the timely intervention of the agents of the State Police Flying Unit was the report of a resident of Via San Zeno. Suspicious of the noises coming from the Lucky bar in the middle of the night, he raised the alarm. Within minutes the police arrived: they noticed that the shutter had been partially torn down and the glass of the door smashed. Once inside, they caught the two thieves in the act of committing a crime while they were removing the bottom of the box.

The desperate escape from the windows

Upon seeing the police, the pair of criminals tried to escape through two windows – one in the bathroom, the other in the basement – but without success. Both were stopped and arrested for aggravated theft in competition. On the floor of the bar, in addition to the coins and banknotes from the attempted theft, there were numerous burglary tools: they were seized.

According to what the police reconstructed, the two thieves had headed to the bar in a car which was then left running with the keys in the ignition, ready to escape. Subsequent investigations made it possible to ascertain that the vehicle had been stolen on Thursday, probably to burgle the premises.
