Tari in Turin, the Municipality has decided a new increase of 6.67%

The people of Turin will have to deal with a new increase in the Tari, the waste tax. The Municipality has in fact approved an increase in prices of 6.67% starting from the end of the year. The increase, decided by the Lo Russo council, varies depending on the number of members of the family unit and the size of the house, ranging from a minimum of 6 euros to a maximum of 49 euros per year.

The budget councilor, Gabriella Nardelli, explains that the adjustment is necessary to “guarantee total coverage of the costs of the service and secure budget balances”. The increase is mainly due to inflation, which according to Arera could reach 13.3% by the end of 2026. This is the second increase in a year for the TARI in Turin: in April 2023 an increase in the rate had already been approved 1.20%.

There is no shortage of precedents, as the opposition at Palazzo Civico recall: “Gtt, blue stripes, Irpef, What P, Chimp and the cemetery fees“. The first tax to undergo an increase, since the election of Stefano Lo Russo, was the municipal Irpef. After the changes at a national level, Turin was among the first cities to exceed 0.8%, excluding incomes up to 28 thousand euros. For those who earned more, the income tax rose to 1.1% (and 1.2% for those above 50 thousand euros).

In 2023 it was the turn of GTT racing and blue stripes. The ticket “City” has gone from 1.70 euros to the current 2 euros (€1.90 if purchased online). For parking in paid areas, the price increase was divided as follows: the hourly rates “smart“, “reduced” And “ordinary” had increased by 20 cents, the “central” one by 30. Only the annual subscriptions had remained unchanged.

The increase in the Tari in Turin will have a variable impact on citizens’ pockets, depending on the size of the home and the number of members of the family unit. Here are some examples:

  • Alone in a house up to 30 m2: increase of 6 euros (from €89.50 to €95.50).
  • Alone in a house from 30 to 70 m2: increase from €7.60 to €9.20.
  • Two people in a house from 51 to 80 m2: increase of approx 15 euros.
  • Two people in a house from 81 to 120 m2: increase of approx 20 euro.
  • A occupant in a house over 200 m2: maximum increase of 20 euro.
  • Groups of 3 to 5 people: increase up to 40 euros.
  • Six people in a house: maximum increase of 49 euros (a case that concerns only 144 families).

The most affected groups:

  • Numerous nuclei: in general, those who live in larger homes with more people will have a larger increase.
  • Homes over 200 m2: for singles who occupy very large homes, the increase reaches up to 20 euros, although it remains the lowest for single-family units.
