Lower environment Molise adopts Gisa a Caretta caretta turtle

TERMOLI. Accidental capture by a fishing vessel to rescue and medical treatment is the story of a Caretta caretta named Gisa adopted by Ambiente Basso Molise.

On the occasion of the first flight celebration, the Volunteer Association decided to adopt a sea turtle. Gisa is 68 cm long. She is about 12 years old and has undergone surgery to remove a hook in her esophagus and is feeding with a tube and as soon as rehabilitation is finished she will be released back into her environment.

“We have adopted a Caretta caretta and we are happy about it, a simple and exciting gesture, to continue taking care of a magnificent environment”.

This is an endangered species because it is strongly threatened by professional fishing, nautical traffic, pollution and plastic waste often ingested by these animals who mistake them for prey.

In the last 10 years, thanks also to the commitment of some schools, ABM has adopted many and will continue to do so, because saving any animal, be it a Kentish plover or a turtle, helps to live better and counteract the loss of biodiversity.

Adopting a Caretta caretta means making a fundamental investment for the future and not only is it good for everyone but it is also good for the environment.
