Mourning in Legnano for the death of the newsagent Luigi “Ginetto” Lodini

He passed away yesterday, Friday 14 June, at the age of 90. In Legnano he was an institution, especially in the Oltrestazione district, where throughout his life he managed the newspaper shop (later also stationery) in via Ciro Menotti 58, a business now carried on by his son Guido. With his passing, a piece of history goes away. The funeral will be celebrated on Monday 17 June at 10am in the church of the Holy Martyrs.

The memory of Mayor Radice: “A piece of the city’s history is gone”

In addition to many friends and loyal customers, Mayor Lorenzo Radice is also mourning him. The mayor wanted to express his and the municipal administration’s condolences for Lodini’s death in this way:

“For those who, like me, were born in the Oltrestazione, the ‘Ginetto’ was an iconic person of the neighbourhood, a trader capable, with his humanity, of making his shop a true point of reference in the area, and not only for the purchases of newspapers and magazines. With him a piece of our city’s history goes away; a history which, in his case, is made up of the most authentic everyday life, one that smacks of ritual, as is, indeed, the purchase of the newspaper. Deepest condolences to his family.”
