TERNI Transfer the economics faculty from San Valentino to the video centre. It is the first step of a more complex proposal that the Municipality of Terni is working on to bring the university to the centre. A fundamental piece, in the intentions of the municipal administration, to involve young people first and foremost in a process of rebirth of the heart of the city. «The university in the center means restarting the city’s economy, councilor Viviana Altamura declared at the time – creating a study room, thesis, bringing all the offices to the center and why not also implementing new faculties because in these years Terni has lost political science.” A desire reiterated in recent days by his council colleague, the councilor for economic development Sergio Cardinali.

«We must think that right in the center there are new intelligences, young people who need to be involved, Cardinali said – Together with councilor Viviana Altamura we are working to reposition the university in the center also to encourage the participation of young people». The intentions have already been translated into a proposal that the municipal administration presented in a meeting in the Region also attended by the University of Perugia. «Without prejudice to the presence of the Pentima center with its courses – explains councilor Altamura – our proposal is to transfer the economics faculty which is now in San Valentino to the multimedia centre. A move that would bring students closer to the city center.” But there is also a second location that the councilor is looking at with interest. «The former guesthouse could be another university headquarters, adds Viviana Altamura. In the meeting we had in the Region, where the University was also located, we asked, given the city’s vocation for sport, the activation of a course in motor sciences”. The proposal presented in the meeting will be brought to the council shortly. “Our proposal, the councilor explains, will translate into a council resolution in which not only will we explain the project as a whole, but we will put down on paper our desire to have the courses in the city centre.”
Meanwhile, it seems that in recent weeks some representatives of the University have carried out an inspection of the premises of the Multimedia Centre. The interlocutors of the Municipality, i.e. the Region and the University, have not yet expressed their opinion on the proposal of the administration of Palazzo Spada. However, the redevelopment of the Pentima hub is certain, which proceeds step by step, for which the Region has planned investments of 25 million euros. The planned interventions are aimed at ensuring safety, seismic prevention, energy efficiency and adaptation of buildings to current regulations for carrying out teaching, laboratory and research activities in the context of tertiary education, academic and otherwise. The objective, as was explained at the time by the regional councilor Paola Agabiti when presenting the project, is to create a hub here intended to enrich the high-level training offer, starting from the university one.
