“Three friends on the road again”

“It’s my fault, my character’s, if we went back to shooting this film…”. Jacopo Costantini (Bibi on the big screen) laughs heartily, busy sharing a session in the hair and make-up camper with colleagues Lodo Guenzi and Matteo Gatta. “It’s my fault, because Bibi falls in love and asks his friends to accompany him on an unforgettable trip. Another one. Once again towards Eastern Europe”. Here is the title, Tornando a Est, sequel to the highly appreciated Est – Last Minute Dictatorship, created from an idea by Maurizio Paganelli and Andrea Riceputi from Cesena, who decided to turn their childhood adventures into a film. Today will be the last day of recording of the new work directed by director Antonio Pisu and signed by the production company Stradellest. The first ‘episode’ was broadcast all over the world, winning 14 festivals. Now it’s happening again, according to the same script. Nostalgia for times past, combined with irony and reflections dictated by a world that changed before the eyes of the protagonists. “Three and a half years have passed since the first film – confirmed Guenzi, Gatta and Costantini, sharing, in addition to the camper session, also their thoughts – and the three friends find themselves older and more aware, in a world that they don’t like. For This is what they leave for. When they arrive, however, they realize that what they find is not beautiful at all.” The story continues, therefore. With the same characters, played by the same actors.

“Bibi can’t say that we are friends – the other two joke – but the truth is that we are, of course. It’s really nice to have shared this experience. We filmed for a long time in Sofia, a city we didn’t know. It’s far from everything , unexpected, but beautiful. Go there, but be careful where you walk: the pavement is terrible…”. It’s good to talk about Sofia, but here, in this film, we also talk – a lot – about Cesena and Romagna. “The added value is the attention of the people of Cesena – explains the director – who immediately welcomed us very well and who quickly became fond of our presence”.

The film was also made possible thanks to Victoria Cinema, Davide Pedrazzini and the Emilia-Romagna Region, through the Film Commission: “Films of this kind, which tell the story of the territory through the real stories of the protagonists who animated them, are more authentic – comments Fabio Abbagnato, head of the Film Commission of Emilia Romagna – and they are appreciated by the public. On the other hand, in our area we are investing more and more in cinema. The results can be seen first-hand in international festivals and in the related activities community”. The closing is from Paganelli: “I was in Iceland, at the cinema. The spectator in front of me, when he heard the word ‘Cesena’, took his phone and searched on Google. From there, he saw the Masini Fountain. Maybe he will come to see it live too.”
