PADUA – A great party to celebrate the thirtieth anniversary of the last one together promotion in Serie A of Padova. See you this afternoon at the Appiani stadium for a very welcome amarcord from the historian playoff of Cremona who gave promotion to the biancoscudati, winners 2-1 of that exciting and tense match against Cesena coached by Bruno Bolchi. And if the present unfortunately does not offer great satisfaction, the past becomes a safe haven that many fans will approach today, eager to see some of those heroes again, on the pitch on 15 June 1994 under the orders of Mauro Sandreani.
A good part of that team will be present for the friendly match which will take place around 6pm against a representative of the organized fans. Even though they live far from Padua, Marco Franceschetti and Maurizio Coppola, the scorer of the 2-1 goal that started the celebrations in a Zini stadium which saw over fifteen thousand Padua supporters in the stands, did not want to miss this pleasant appointment. Together with them, among the many present, the captains Claudio Ottoni and Damiano Longhi, the forwards Pippo Maniero and Angelo Montrone, the midfielders Damiano Longhi and Emanuele Pellizzaro, the wingers Franco Gabrieli and Davide Tentoni and the central defender Massimiliano Rosa.
Giving them a hand were other former biancoscudati in previous times, such as the striker Roberto Putelli and the defender Carmine Parlato, or those who arrived later such as the playmaker Carlo Perrone and Edoardo Bonetto, vice president of the last Padova team capable of obtaining promotion to Serie B in 2018. Together with them, other protagonists with different roles in that splendid undertaking, such as the social doctor Luigi Munari, who still holds that position in the shadow of the Saint, and the masseur Rino Baron who had a celebratory column built in his house that promotion to Serie A came after 32 years of waiting. The Paduan journalist Daniele Garbo from Mediaset will also be there.
Players who were unable to attend will send their warm greetings via video message. There will also be a moment linked to solidarity, with a charity auction of t-shirts replicas of those used thirty years ago in Cremona, with the proceeds going to the Salus Pueri Foundation, the non-profit organization that operates within the Pediatrics department and today represented by its president, professor Giorgio Perilongo.
The program at the Appiani will open around 5pm with a match between the under 13s of Padova and Montagnana which will be followed by the most awaited one which will see the Padova Legends, the protagonists of Cremona, at work, all followed by the auction . There will be background music and a drink-food bar that is always open, but the real joy for the many people who will not miss this event will be the chance to revive the memory of the highest and most beautiful moment in Padua’s recent football history.
