Mourning in San Donato di Lecce, farewell to the former deputy mayor Anna Rita Perrone

SAN DONATO DI LECCE – Mourning in the world of Salento politics: the municipal councilor of San Donato di Lecce, former councilor and deputy mayor of the Salento municipality, and provincial councilor, has died. The woman, a lawyer by profession, died after a long illness: she had been re-elected in the last electoral competition in her municipality of residence among the opposition benches, also entering the municipal council.

“Today – states the number one at Palazzo dei Celestini, Stefano Minerva – is a sad day for the Province of Lecce and for the political and administrative community of Salento. The news of the passing of provincial councilor Anna Rita Perrone leaves us astonished. We are losing a woman who made politics and the meaning of institutions her life mission, quickly becoming a point of reference for the entire Salento community. Anna Rita has left traces of her commitment and we have the task of being its interpreters. My condolences and the closeness of the entire organization go to the family and the entire community of San Donato di Lecce”.

The mayor of San Donato di Lecce, Alessandro Quarta, also expresses his condolences and announces the city’s mourning for tomorrow: “Strong and courageous woman, of extreme sweetness and meekness with a reassuring smile. She has always been committed to our city by making her professionalism and great competence available to serve the community.”

For the former regional councilor and senator Dario Stefàno, it is “chilling news”, “a great loss”: “I lose – he specifies -, and too soon, above all a dear friend. Anna Rita was a true traveling companion, discreet but at the same time strong, sensitive but also determined, competent and immeasurably passionate about politics and the common good, and with whom I lived and shared many battles, human and political, many pieces of road and life that were traveled together”.
