Food and wine festivals, open-air cinema and exhibitions: the weekend’s initiatives

The weekend that goes from 14 to 16 June promises to be full of events not to be missed. With the arrival of summer you can’t miss the festivals in Brescia and surrounding areas that combine the pleasure of dining with a passion for music and entertainment.

There will, however, also be an opportunity to dedicate yourself to guided tours and exhibitionsenjoy a concert in Piazza della Loggia or meet i finalists of the highly coveted Strega Prize. Below is a list of the most interesting initiatives selected by in Brescia, the online agenda of the Giornale di Brescia.

On the territory

For Saturday 15 June the Scenari association organized Scenarios in Portole, an evening of yoga, music, cooking and exploration of the sky at the Trattoria Portole in Sale Marasinoin via Presso 106. The event will open, starting from 6.30pmwith an experience of yoga in the meadow, led by instructor Simona Belli and accompanied by the music of Eleonora Ornaghi on harp and Andrea Bui on percussion. The convivial dinner based on typical Brescian dishes will begin at 8pm and the Meidochesic+1 concert will be held at 9pm (Linda Severino on vocals, Fabio Rinaldi on guitar and Vittorio Bettoni with various instruments). Following, the performance of the dialect singer-songwriter Sergio Minelli (voice and guitar). In the end, at 11.30pmthe GADS-Gruppo Astrofili Deep Sky of Castegnato will propose an exciting exploration of the sky. In case of bad weather, the concert and dinner are confirmed and will take place indoors. It is possible to participate in the entire evening or in individual initiatives. The initiatives that pay homage to the culinary excellence of Brescia and the surrounding area are back. For the entire weekend the La Fontanella Park welcomes Tortello Amaro Festival of Castel Goffredo (MN), a series of evenings dedicated to good food and music. This is the only annual opportunity for taste a completely “bitter” menu: from the tortello of Castel Goffredo in its “castella” version, to the braised meat, polenta and ice cream, always in the “bitter” version. These tasty preparations will be accompanied by good white wine (Custoza white and Merlot, both from Cavalchina) or by the “castellana beer” of Luppolajo, again with bitter herb. But it’s not over! The menu also offers a choice of fish: amarluccio, pike in flavored sauce. The appointment with taste is for Friday 14th, Saturday 15th and Sunday 16th June, from 7pm for dinner and from 9.30pm for the scheduled concerts. Entrance is free. Meetings and conferences

Palazzo Fè D’Ostiani – Comics School Bresciaof Corso Giacomo Matteotti 54, welcomes Comics Battle – Being pro in Bresciaa afternoon meeting with pencil professionals who teach at the academy and who will show those present the possible opportunities offered by this course of study, recounting their experience, providing advice and ideas. There are many reference figures to deal with: from those who draw children’s books to those who deal with comics, from those who create tattoos to editorial illustrations, from those who design video games to those who create graphic novels. From 11am to 6pm on Saturday 15 June the artists present will take part in short titled couple talks “Comics Battle”, during which representatives of two different professions will compare themselves to underline their peculiarities, differences and points of contact. Jacopo Masini, Filippo La Duca, Sara Donati, Marco Galli, Paola Mucciarelli, Marco Goran, Alessandro Vairo are just some of those present. Throughout the day the SCB Collective (born within the school) will propose a self-production market and a live painting performance. Finally, to conclude the event, a game session with the new Questa volta che cards, produced by Dal Negro and developed by a collective of game developers attending the school, the Quaglia Games. Sunday 16 June The Mars MuseumSin Piazza Roma 1, in Calvagese della Riviera, welcomes you Strega Tour 2024 – Meeting with the finalists of the Strega Prize. Starting from 8.45pm the authors competing for the most important literary prize in Italy will present their works to the public: Donatella Di Pietrantonio, The fragile age (Einaudi); Dario Voltolini, Winter (The Ship of Theseus); Chiara Valerio, Who says and who is silent (Sellerio); Paolo Di Paolo, Novel without humans (Feltrinelli); Raffaella Romagnolo, Fixing the universe (Mondadori); Tommaso Giartosio, Autobiogrammatica (minimum fax). Shows, films and theatre

Return the open-air cinema at Viridarium Park – Santa Giulia Museumin via Musei 81/B, for Summer Edenthe cinema at the museum which, for the evening of Saturday 15 June, proposes the screening of Michael Mann’s film (USA 2023, 130′) “Ferrari”. Precisely in the week of the Mille Miglia, homage is paid to the story of a legend who built an enduring myth and became a global icon: Enzo Ferrari, former driver and builder of the most famous cars in the world. The year is 1957, when the “Drake” decides to bet everything on a speed race taking place in Italy: the legendary Mille Miglia. The appointment is at 9.30 pm. The Loggia Square welcomes Fabrizio Moro in “Una vita intera – Tour 2024“, Sunday 16 June at 9.30pm, for an evening during which the singer-songwriter will excite the audience with a musical journey through the most beloved songs of his artistic career. On stage with him there will be Danilo Molinari and Roberto “Red” Maccaroni on guitars, Luca Amendola on bass, Alessandro Inolti on drums and Maestro Claudio Junior Bielli on piano. Art and culture

In the historic center of Brescia an exhibition is coming to tell the story of the Mille Miglia, in the city that invented itby title Mille Miglia tour. Guided tour. We will retrace the historical places, to reveal the background and adventures of the heroes who participated, from the year of the first race, in 1927, until today. In the meantime it will be possible admire the cars that will participate in the 2024 edition. A truly unmissable opportunity for lovers of the challenge between the fastest cars that crosses countryside and cities, seas and mountains. The appointment is for Saturday 15 June at 3.30pm. Pisogne hosts The abstract art of Tomas Rajlich at the Mirad’Or museum in Pisognevisitable all weekend. The Mirad’Or water museum and the Church of Santa Maria della Neve have decided to pay homage to the Czech-Dutch artist Tomas Rajlich, a great interpreter of abstract art and among the most important contemporary painters of his generation. The exhibition itinerary, curated by the art historian Flaminio Gualdoni with the coordination of Marco Lagorio, is made up of works from the artist’s personal collection and private collections: from paintings from the late 1970s to more recent works in which it is the theme of light. Eight works, one sculpture and seven paintings, are exhibited at the Mirad’Or; the Church of Santa Maria della Neve, however, houses a three-metre painting in which a metaphysical blue, painted almost transparently, is linked to the stories told by Romanino’s extraordinary frescoes. The Mirad’Or can be visited Friday 14 June from 2pm to 6pm, Saturday 15 and Sunday 16 June from 10am to 12pm and from 2pm to 6pm while the church is open for the entire weekend, from 10am to 6pm.
