The conference “Precision psychiatry, clinical characterization and new approaches in the treatment of depressive disorders and psychosis” sponsored by the Local Health Authority of Matera will take place tomorrow, 15 June, in Matera, starting from 9 am at the Hotel Nazionale. Organizing the meeting are Vincenzo Pierro Acting Director of the Psychiatric Diagnosis and Treatment Service of the ASM of Matera and Antonio Ventriglio of the Department of Clinical and Experimental Medicine of the University of Foggia. During the conference, in which speakers from all over Italy will take part, we will talk about depression which constitutes a seriously disabling and globally widespread pathological condition with estimates that lead us to believe that it can affect up to 350 million people worldwide. Some factors can make the treatment of this disorder more difficult, elements that will be addressed during the conference. “The conference scheduled for tomorrow in Matera – states the Extraordinary Commissioner of the ASM, Maurizio Friolo – will serve to take stock of the situation also on the latest therapies for depressive disorders; increasingly personalized therapies based on the maximum efficacy and tolerability profile, such as to favor psychosocial and rehabilitative interventions. As usual, the ASM remains attentive to this type of pathology with the aim of improving the quality of life for patients and their families in order to reduce the social impact that this type of disability entails”.
