The Court of Sculptures, at the Campolmi Polo, returns to be the setting for the events of the Prato Estate 2024 event organized by the Culture Department of the Municipality of Prato. The concert “Homage to Battiato” will open, proposed by the Terzo Tempo Ensemble.
Greetings to one of the greatest Italian singer-songwriters who made headlines for the large number of styles he explored and combined in an eclectic and personal way. The Battiatian repertoire is proposed again in a fusion of languages, worthy of the experimentation that Battiato himself has always sought during his extraordinary artistic life.
From a musical point of view, the years between 1971 and 1977 projected Battiato into an experimental dimension new to Italy: “I began to think that there had to be music suited to my personality and that corresponded to the not only spiritual path that I had begun to explore” . A search that will inevitably find, even before the records, the answers in concerts without sound checks, under the aegis of pure improvisation: “I entered a kind of trance that for an hour threw me into different dimensions. When I returned to my body, I had difficulty recognizing where I was.”
The mystery of harmony in music arises from the fusion of precise frequencies, the so-called harmonic development is applied in Battiato’s compositions through “the law of the octave”, which leads us back to Georges Ivanovič Gurdjieff, Armenian scholar and philosopher: “The The universe consists of vibrations since everything is energy. These vibrations are inconstant, they change as they rise and fall. At some moments the vibration slows down, then resumes normally until it reaches the maximum point.”
