On Friday 14 June at 10:00, a meeting was held at this Prefecture to update on the situation of the “Ponte di Piero – Monteviasco” cableway system.
Among the participants are the Prefect Pasquariello, the President of the Province Magrini, the Mayor of Curiglia con Monteviasco Sahnane, as well as representatives of the Lombardy Region, including the lawyer. Passera as delegate of President Fontana. Representatives of the Local Public Transport Agency, including President Galli, and of the Ferrovienord company also took part in the event.
During the meeting, the phases for the reactivation of the “Ponte di Piero – Monteviasco” cableway, inactive since November 2018, were briefly summarized.
The facility is currently administered by the “La Fenice” Cooperative awaiting the conclusion of the European tender to assign the unified management of the seven cable cars in the Varese-Como-Lecco sector to a single entity. The tender, which will be published shortly, will allow the sole manager of the plants to be identified at the end of the procedure, starting from 1 January 2025.
The participants have decided to meet again on June 21st, extending the invitation also to the president of the “La Fenice” Cooperative. The objective is to evaluate in detail the progress of the works to adapt and make the plant safe, as well as obtain the timetable of the next activities in order to be able to hypothesize the opening date.
