«My show between madness and interplay with the public»

PERUGIA – The grand finale of the 2024 edition of “Tanganica. Libero Stato della Risata”, the humor festival which from today to Sunday will bring comedy and music to the summer arena of the Giardini del Frontone. The event promoted by the Occhisulmondo theater cultural association opened last May 25th and in just under a month it offered a series of events, mostly with free entry, including stand-up comedy, song theatre, contemporary circus, dance and slam poetry, without missing presentations of books and music.

This afternoon we will start at 7.30 pm with the music of the Perugian singer Gabriele Buonfortebefore “Lo Spettacolo che mi vedrei” by Raffaello Cortiin art “Spellface”. Having quickly become a true social phenomenon, Corti takes on the role of the anti-magician, awkward, comical and often surreal, aiming to involve the public. However, beneath the gags and jokes lies a true magician, capable of surprising and exciting.

Raffaello Corti, will this be your debut in Perugia?
Yes, even though I know the city very well because for two years I was engaged to a girl from here. I must say that I really liked Perugia, especially for the many young people and university students. The only problem is the climbs and stairs!

Can you tell us something about the show you will propose?
I actually don’t know how to define it well, I could describe it as madness! I put everything I like into it and I admit that for me it’s very nice. It must be said that in many passages I really enjoy myself, because the show changes every time based on the spectator I involve.

A bit like what happens in tourist villages?
In a sense. I think that to grow artistically it is necessary to steal the best of each figure with your eyes. I envy the animators’ ability to improvise and like them I try to have “the hair on my stomach” to get out of every situation well.

What do you envy about magicians instead?
I like comic magic, but to propose it I first had to delve deeper into the topic, that is, put myself in the shoes of those who tackle it seriously. Only in this way can you find those details that allow you to make fun of them. So I learned a lot about magic, but now that method sounds a bit old. This is also why magicians sometimes seem snooty, while my strength is to put myself on par with the public. So laughter comes more easily.

After the performance by Faccestamagia, at 10pm it will be the turn of the digital creator from Novara Turbopaolo with the live show “500”, full of his irreverent “observational comedy”. Closing in music with the DJ set by Rogers.

Tomorrow the final will start at 3.30pm Comic Club Contestthen the stand up comedy marathon with Tanganica All Star (Daniele Fabbri, Alessandro Ciacci, Nathan Kiboba, Sandro Canori, Andrea Di Castro, Sara Flamment, Benedetta Orlando, Tiberio Cosmin, Andrea Saleri, Davide Sberna, Mattia Rellini, Noemi Carlini, Davide Marini, Davide DDL, Monir Ghassem, Matteo D’Argenio). At 9pm this real “National team of comedians” will comment live on the Italy-Albania football match, and then leave room for music by Perugino University. Free admission on Sunday 16th, with “Luna Yoga” at 11am in the medieval garden of San Pietro, at 4pm workshop organized by Impro’ followed by an Impro’ show, at 6.30pm theater and song with Giulia Zeetti And Mirco Bonucci and at 8pm closing with the philosophical clowns of Tony Clifton Circus and the show “Rubbish Rabbit”, for the first time in Umbria. Tanganica – Libero Stato della Risata is promoted by the cultural theater association Occhisulmondo, in collaboration with the associations MenteGlocale, Coscienza Verde and Spazio MAI of Perugia.
