In Agrigento, on Sunday 16 June, at 7.30 pm, in the courtyard of “Le Fabbriche” (Orestiadi Foundation), in via San Francesco 1, the first meeting of the fourth edition of “Libri in Cortile”, the editorial review, is scheduled , with the free patronage of the Municipality of Agrigento, which animates the historic center of the city every summer.

The first guest of the season will be the English writer Geoff Dyer, a well-known journalist for The Guardian, who will present his famous book “Still Life with Sax Case. Stories of Jazz” (ed. Il Saggiatore). Considered one of the most important narrative works on Jazz, Dyer’s book immerses us in fascinating tales that explore the lives of some of the greatest jazz musicians of all time, including Chet Baker, Duke Ellington, Art Pepper, Charles Mingus, Thelonius Monk , Lester Young, Bud Powell and Ben Webster.

The evening will be enriched by the collaboration of the Toscanini Conservatory of Ribera which will perform some of the pieces by the protagonists of the book.

The event is organized by Blasco da Mompracem, the literary blog of the cultural operator Roberto Bruccoleri, Artistic Director of the event, in collaboration with FestiValle and its Artistic Director Fausto Savatteri. The initiative is part of the Festivalle Off program, continuing the success of the deseasonalized events to discover the Agrigento area.

The mayor of Agrigento, Francesco Miccichè and the councilor for culture, Costantino Ciulla, comment: “We are proud to support cultural events such as ‘Books in the Courtyard’ which enhance our historical and artistic heritage.
