Published today, Friday 14 June, lunion ordinance to protect urban tranquility and liveability during summer events. The provision prohibits in certain time slots and within the areas of the city affected by the events the sale of glass bottles and cans to ensure the protection of urban decorum and prevent damage to monuments and public assets. The area affected by the ordinance is included between Piazza Butti, via XXIX Maggio, via della Vittoria, via Pontida, Corso Sempione, viale Toselli, Corso Magenta, via Cottolengo, via Alberto da Giussano, Corso Italia and in the pedestrian area of via Venegoni-Gaeta.
The ordinance provides that, every Wednesday evening, during the “Shops open”, and on June 21st, on the occasion of the “Notte in Centro”, from 7pm to 2am the following day, alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks in bottles or cans and food in glass or ceramic containers cannot be sold or given away free of charge. The ordinance, for “A Night at the Opera” scheduled for June 18th (or 19th in case of postponement due to bad weather), will be valid exclusively for the Centro ZTL. In all the areas and time slots mentioned, on the occasion of the events,
alcohol cannot be consumed in glass bottles or cans on public land or open to the public.
