UEFA will today pay a total of 150.15 million euros to the thirty-two teams that participated in the Champions League in the 2023/24 season, including Napoli.
Champions 2023/24: the takings of Napoli, Inter, Lazio and Milan
According to data reported by Football and Financethe Italian teams (Inter, Milan, Naples, Lazio) will earn a total of around 17 million.
The clubs that earn the most are Inter, Lazio and Napoli, who have played the same number of matches (8); they will earn just over 4.5 million euros. As for Milan, eliminated in the group stage (third place), they will receive 3.4 million, as they played two fewer matches.
Champions League style
During the Serie A Festival, the deputy secretary declared «UEFA had thought of a Champions League with a format similar to the Super League, but this would have ruined the championships».
The next Champions League (as well as the Europa League and Conference) will however undergo radical changes. It will say goodbye to the group stage. «Since the beginning of the Champions League it is the most important transformation. We didn’t suddenly decide to change, formats evolve over time even if we didn’t realize it in the past. At every three-year cycle we made some small changes».
On the possible derbies immediately in the first phase of the new Champions League: «We have no intention of having anyone play derbies in the league phase. Which will then be possible in the direct elimination phase. They will be possible only in the case of impossibility to complete the calendar if they do not break two limits, i.e. that no one will be able to have more than two opponents from the same country or the same nationality».
