“A literature teacher at the Moro scientific high school in Reggio Emilia gave her fifth grade students revisionist teaching material on the Resistance, defined as ‘an invention’, with a despicable attack on partisan women who, according to her, would never you existed. You also defined the green themes and objectives of the 2030 Agenda as ‘tools of manipulation and control’. The dem deputy Irene Manzi, co-signatory together with the Pd group leader Chiara Braga and Ilenia Malavasi, declared this in the Montecitorio Chamber, illustrating the urgent question with which the minister Valditara is asked how he will want to investigate the case and what measures he intends to adopt.
“To the teacher who justified herself by saying that her way of teaching is linked to the development of critical sense, we strongly reiterate that the Resistance is not an opinion but a founding pillar of our democratic history. The Resistance is anti-fascism. This type of action cannot go unnoticed also because it calls into question, in addition to the values of our Republic, the fundamental role of partisan women in our Liberation process. Quoting Tina Anselmi – one of them – they were women aware that ‘to change the world you had to be there’. And they were there, they were not an invention”, concluded Manzi, asking the minister – always diligent in promoting inspection activities – for a firm condemnation of what happened, in line with the clear words of the head teacher of the institute involved.
