TerrAria, in Lecce landscaping and horticulture to stimulate psychiatric patients

LECCE – Landscaping and horticulture techniques to stimulate creativity in the psychiatric rehabilitation community. The TerrAria project was presented in the last few hours, which will involve the guests of “Villa Libertini” of the Mental Health Department, in the former Opis of Lecce.

The initiative, in addition to teaching botany notions, will also leverage the “chromotherapy” technique to encourage Crap users to take up art. In an apparently playful context, colors will be played to stimulate emotions in the people involved, helping them to regain functional balance and a general state of psychological and physical well-being. Thus, the guests of “Villa Libertini” together with the users of the day centre, assisted by operators expert in rehabilitation techniques, undertook an experiential journey that fosters relationships, promotes different collaborations, stimulates the pleasure of rediscovering attention for nature and its seasonal cycles, respect and care for the environment.

All enhanced and enriched by small creations made by users with recycled materials. “Our Mental Health Department is at the forefront of several rehabilitation and treatment projects. TerrAria is a composite project that combines clinical paths with art, culture and agriculture. The common thread is the love of beauty, the destigmatization of mental distress and the care of the human factor” commented the general director Stefano Rossi.
