Theft and vandalism in Marina di Pisa: worried traders

Shopkeepers in Marina di Pisa worried and exasperated by the barrage of thefts and incidents of damage to which they are increasingly victims. The latest in chronological order, the smashed window of a commercial business in via Barbolani, the theft of fine wines from a restaurant in the area, the mugging of two elderly people in via dell’Ordine, the discovery of a presumably stolen car, abandoned in mid-afternoon in the middle of the road near the pine forest, as told by Simona Rindi, president of the CCN of Marina di Pisa. “And let’s not count the thefts from homes, which are the order of the day, in summer and winter” is the bitter complaint of the president of the traders.

“It is clear that with the arrival of summer and the increase in population, the situation will worsen further, but the worst thing is that we feel totally defenseless in the face of these episodes. We are not asking for the moon, but only to be able to work peacefully, and offer the best possible welcome to those who come to Marina”.

The director of Confcommercio Province of Pisa Federico Pieragnoli does not fail to support the traders’ requests: “The sense of insecurity that can be felt in Marina di Pisa is the same as in Tirrenia and Calambrone – reiterates Pieragnoli – we are even tired of repeating it , we need to intervene to increase the presence of law enforcement and controls in the area, so as to send a more reassuring message to entrepreneurs, tourists and residents. It is no coincidence that almost two out of three Pisan entrepreneurs consider the phenomena of petty crime to be very serious and consider the presence of law enforcement in the area to be inadequate. Intervening is not a choice, but a necessity.”
