“Contrary to what was stated by the leader of the Democratic Party, Ezio Di Genesio Pagliuca – declares the President of the City Council, Roberto Severini, regarding the statements released by the city councilor Ezio Di Genesio Pagliuca, following the electoral results of the two municipalities and on the impact that they could have for the constitution of the new province “Gateway to Italy – we believe that the victories of Marco Piendibene in Civitavecchia and Francesco Sposetti in Tarquinia do not represent a sign of failure, but rather a democratic electoral result that does not influence our beliefs and on the collaboration we have and will continue to have in the future with the municipalities mentioned.
It is not clear to me why Ezio Di Genesio Pagliuca has given himself the right to speak on behalf of the mayors of Civitavecchia and Tarquinia, giving confirmation of their positions which in reality Tarquinia has not yet expressed in the chamber, while Civitavecchia has already defined the path by voting on ‘act of favorable political direction – he continues – and I would also like to highlight that during the meeting in Cerveteri, at which the entire constitutional arc of the Democratic Party was present, in which the new Province was discussed, a unanimous position emerged, voted by a large majority.
The political actions of the Democratic Party, up to now, have shown little incisiveness on the issue.
As far as we are concerned, we reiterate our favorable position towards the creation of the New Province “Gateway to Italy” and we believe that it represents a great opportunity to restore identity and dignity to the territories involved.
We hope that future political decisions will be taken with the exclusive objective of promoting territorial development and improving the quality of life of our citizens. We invite all political actors to collaborate constructively, putting aside ideological differences for the common good.” concludes the President of the City Council Severini.
