PADUA – Driver of bus caught buying heroin by his usual pusher: he was reported to the Prefecture. A surprise also for the Flying Squad policemen involved in checks between the Stanga area and the station.

That evening the officers were stationed in via Tommaseo and saw a man walking briskly towards the bus terminal. When he arrived at the stop, he approached a 25-year-old of Nigerian origin, without valid documents. The two chatted for a while and then the man received a wrapper. The police stopped both of them.
The 25-year-old had just given the man a dose of heroin and had more on him. He also had some marijuana and 150 euros in cash. The customer is a driver of the urban and extra-urban transport service in Padua. He confessed to the officers that he was a usual customer to the point that the pusher had accepted his promise to pay for the drugs in the next few days. Just a year and a half ago the driver was suspended from public service for three months. At that moment he was not working so the Mobile police officers reported the case to the Prefecture and his suitability for service will be assessed and reconsidered. The 25-year-old was arrested: judged immediately, he was sentenced to 9 months in prison and the payment of a fine of one thousand euros. Furthermore, expulsion proceedings have been initiated.
