“We chose Izzo – continues the undersecretary – because here in Viterbo there is 41 bis. And Izzo was a forerunner of the control of organized crime within prisons. To ensure that prison is not a small hiccup for mafiosi, their tombstone. Izzo taught that we needed to pay attention to mail between families and inmates. Because it was possible to hide the pizzini that would have allowed the mafiosi to continue to scourge the territories from which they came by giving orders and demonstrating that they were stronger than the state”.
