«Culture belongs to everyone»

ANCONA The historic center finally finds the place of art par excellence: the Roman amphitheatre. The Municipality has refurbished it in view of the summer programming. «After 13 years we are reopening a symbolic place of the city» the Councilor for Culture, Anna Maria Bertini, enthusiastically began yesterday at a press conference. Where, at a certain point, the FdI MEP, Carlo Ciccioli, also appeared. Institutional visit? In reality, the role of MEP is not very successful with the presentation of jazz and singing company at the Roman amphitheatre. A presence, his, which in reality served to reaffirm his role as deus ex machina of culture in Ancona, now that the council has changed colour.

The prestige

In any case, for the capital, the reopening of an iconic and highly prestigious place is certainly good news. “Now the good work begins” underlined the councilor. Thanks, certainly, to “the fruitful conversation we had with the superintendent Cecilia Carlorosi – the mayor Daniele Silvetti was keen to point out – who understood the importance of reopening a beating heart of the city”. After 13 years the spotlight is back on the archaeological area. «This municipal administration has healed a wound» commented enthusiastically Gilberto Santini, director of Amat, who will bring two events to the stage in a month. «A round of applause to the mayor and councilor Bertini» replies Giovanni Seneca, artistic director of Adriatico Mediterraneo who will stop at the amphitheater between 26 and 29 August.

The standing ovation

In short, a standing ovation for the ancient rediscovered arena, which last year delighted us with «a taste on the occasion of Alessandro Preziosi’s recital» praised Bertini. Yes, that very same Preziosi who was passed off as the star of the century and then cornered when it was time to give him the leadership of the Massimo Dorico. Thing of the past. Now the mayor and councilor only have eyes for summer events. An 8 by 10 meter stage, 780 seats, 70 thousand euros of sponsors covering 90% of the production costs. «Plus other opportunities that will open up with the European tenders» pointed out Ciccioli who specified on culture: «It doesn’t belong to anyone, much less the previous administration».

The program

The debut will be on 21 and 22 June with Popsophia: the first a philoshow dedicated to the summer solstice, while on 22 June Filosofia by Raffaella Carrà. On July 16th it will be the turn of Ancona Jazz with a concert by Sergio Cammariere, on July 19th Rossana Casale Quintet and on July 26th Paolo Fresu & Rita Marcotulli. On July 22, however, the scene will be at Amat con Tau (Teatri Antichi Uniti) which will stage the performance of Anfitrione with Emilio Solfrizzi. While on August 8th Sophocles’ Oedipus at Colonus. At the end of August the Adriatic-Mediterranean stop will be made, but the program is still tight-lipped.
