The rumors had been swirling for some time now, hazarding predictions ready to spoil the surprise of the possible location and opening date. Now, after much speculation, the secret is out and the news is official: almost three years after the first Italian location in Rome, the opening of Soho House Milan in the former Cinema Arts building is confirmed. And as proof of the vocation for eccentric eclecticism that distinguishes Nick Jones’ clubs, while the capital looked to the alternative district of San Lorenzo, in Milan the focus will be the area between Piazza San Babila and Corso Indipendenza, near Via Montenapoleonebetter known as the Fashion District.
Soho House Milan
The Soho House in Milan will span across the six floors of what many consider to be one of the city’s most important rationalist buildings, built to the design of the Lecco-born architect Mario Cereghini between 1934 and 1935 as the “Casa del Dirigente” of the Opera Nazionale Balilla (ONB). It will house spaces for members, a courtyard, a roof top, a swimming pool, a gymnasium and more than 50 bedrooms. The interior design will look to spark a dialogue with the style and culture of the historic location, evoking the language of the 1930s mixed with pieces of Italian craftsmanship: a tribute to the excellence of Made in Italy tradition already evident in the conception of the Soho House Rome.
