60 million euro plan and new ground spaces for Grimaldi in Brindisi

The Grimaldi group is ready to set up in Brindisi, but, unlike what emerged a few months ago, the area targeted would be among those managed by Enel, which has decommissioned the Federico II coal plant.

The circumstance emerged on the sidelines of a ministerial table on decarbonisation. In particular, as regards Grimaldi, the Gazzetta del Mezzogiorno reported that the construction of a large logistics hub on an area of 20 thousand square meters (which should include the customs-free zone and the Enel quay) would be planned, where it would be possible to move mainly cars carrier. In recent months the name of the Chinese Great Wall Motors had emerged as a partner in the operation, but the profile has disappeared and the incoming sanctions for Chinese cars may have played a role.

Grimaldi and Enel are said to be defining the details of the agreement, which has not yet been reached due to some residual resistance. In a first phase, the investment would be 30 million euros and 120 employees. Once the port infrastructure works are completed, Grimaldi would invest another 30 million and employ a further 120 units.

Other entities interested in the same areas would be the Venetian steel company (but already present on site) Scandiuzzi and Act Blade, active in the wind power sector. For Capobianco, where it was initially thought that Grimaldi could have settled, the project of Fincosit (also in charge of the quayside) and Renantis and that of Adriatic Green Shipyard remain alive, while the presentation by the president of the Boat Show was just a few weeks ago of Puglia, Giuseppe Meo, of a project (Polo nautico Brundisium) for the creation of a shipyard for the production of pleasure boats.
