TERAMO – Oishi Japanese Kitchen Teramo is the best sushi restaurant in Abruzzo. This is confirmed by the 2025 Sushi Guide which once again awarded him the “Three chopsticks”, Gambero Rosso’s highest recognition.

The awards ceremony took place this morning in Rome, with the founder of the group receiving the award Luca Di Marcantonio. Oishi is the only restaurant in Abruzzo to have obtained the “Tre Bacchette” award from the Gambero Rosso Sushi Guide awarded to 32 restaurants throughout Italy.

Oishi Japanese Kitchen Cucina, which in addition to Teramo is also located in Pescara, was born in 2014 by Luca Di Marcantonio, a young entrepreneur from Abruzzo. Nippon tradition, European flavors and excellent raw materials are the winning ingredients of this restaurant. In fact, the common thread of the cuisine is certainly applying Japanese tradition to the creativity of Italian cuisine without losing its original flavors and aromas but adding colors and sensations that always bring thoughts of home.

The success achieved in these 10 years is the result of a carefully planned corporate project supported by measured investments, but above all by the ardent passion and tireless dedication of a team. The innovative culinary proposal stands out for its transparency and exceptional value for money. Thanks to an important quality offer, the brand immediately established itself in both Pescara and Teramo. Quality that depends above all on the raw materials used coming partly from abroad and partly from Italy and Abruzzo which allow us to create refined and creative dishes.

Over the years Oishi Japanese Kitchen has obtained prestigious recognition, including inclusion in the renowned Michelin, Gambero Rosso, Espresso, etc. guides. Furthermore, the company has implemented an innovative project in the restaurant sector, introducing the use of NFTs (Non-Fungible Tokens). Oishi Japanese Kitchen was the first restaurant in Italy to implement NFT utilities, creating a unique and engaging experience for customers. This innovation attracted considerable interest and attention in the industry, allowing the restaurant to clearly stand out from its competitors.

“I really thank everyone – said Luca Di Marcantonio –. I am very happy with this award because creating is freedom, maintaining is responsibility. Our secret is undoubtedly the irrepressible passion we put into it every day. Another point is the precise choice to have gender equality within our restaurants. Our managers are both women. The real personal challenge, which later became everyone’s, was the inclusion and training of Je, a girl who moved to Teramo for love. She is learning Italian and we, with great pleasure, are teaching her to become a new manager in catering. The fusion concept, integration, in all its nuances, is simply… essential for us. Borders do not exist: neither language, nor difficulty, discouragement, distances will ever stop the will to do. Thank you, Gambero Rosso, for supporting those who believe in the future.”

Important prizes but also lots of news for Oishi.

“In 2025 – added the entrepreneur – we will dedicate ourselves to tourism, we will do it in Roseto degli Abruzzi, the city where I live, with Ospitaalità Fusion, a project that blends cultures and hospitality with a Japanese educational garden. Furthermore, the Teramo restaurant will be closed in July to get a new look. This is the last month of Oishi as you have seen and known him. In July we will be closed to completely renovate the restaurant: new format, new menu, lots of study on gluten-free and vegetable proteins, new wine list”.

The bad and breakfast specifically is an investment program that consists in the creation of an eco-sustainable tourist structure through both the reconversion/renovation of an existing property and through the construction of new parts intended to receive the tourist flow, inspired by the concepts of “Riyadh ”, in order to create a unique atmosphere for visitors.

“The quality of the distinctive elements – he explained – was also confirmed to us by the ability of the project to have been assessed as worthy of access to public benefits by the Ministry of Tourism, having obtained a valuable score which allowed an excellent positioning in the inside the final ranking. However, regarding this last aspect, it is sad to note that the tourism entrepreneurship project will not receive any type of public contribution due to insufficient resources made available”.

Another winning element of Oishi is the team now made up of 15 resources between Pescara and Teramo: prepared and trained waitresses, professional and talented chefs from important cooking schools. Both restaurants communicate perfectly with Japanese culture, their design is elegant, minimalist and with attention to detail.

“My hope – concluded Luca – is that Oishi represents excellence at a national level. The road is complex but passion and professionalism are taking us far and today’s recognition is a concrete example of this.”
