LEGNANO – Inauguration, this morning in Legnano, of the Monument to the Fallen of the Guardia di Finanza in times of war and peace, created by the artist Francesco Murano. The ceremony was held in the public park in Via dei Bambini in the context of the celebrations of the 250th anniversary of the foundation of the Gdf and in the presence of the Lombardy regional commander, Gen. D. Giuseppe Arbore, of the provincial commander of Milan, Gen. B. Francesco Mazzotta , the mayor of Legnano, Lorenzo Radice, and other civil, military and religious authorities.

The event began with the flag raising, accompanied by the a cappella performance of the national anthem by the Jubilate choir of Legnano and continued with speeches by the provincial commander, the mayor of Legnano and the regional commander, during the who paid a moving tribute, among others, to the officer Luca Piani and to the financiers Simone Giacomelli and Alessandro Pozzi, young and talented members of the mountain rescue stations of the financial police of Madesimo and Sondrio, who tragically disappeared during an exercise in Val Masino (So) on May 29th.

The ceremony ended with the blessing of the stele by Monsignor Luca Raimondi, auxiliary bishop of Milan and the military chaplain, Monsignor Andrea Scarabello and with the deposition of laurel wreaths to honor all the financiers who, in every time and place, they generously offered their lives in the fulfillment of their duty.
