The ingredients have been the same for 30 years: music, dancing, mugs overflowing with beer, good food and lots of fun. Thanks to the commitment of volunteers and the Gressoney folk group there Bierfestthe beer festival par excellence in the Aosta Valley, returns for its 30th edition.
This year the opportunity to celebrate in company and clink glasses while shouting “prosit” extends over 5 days: from Thursday 20th to Monday 24th June. The undisputed protagonist is traditional Kühabacher Beerthe queen of the party with her unique and inimitable tasteproduced in Baron Beck Peccoz’s brewery and imported directly from Germany for the occasion.
Specially served in a one-litre mug, the German beer that will accompany the long weekend of Gressoney-Saint-Jean combines perfectly with the good food that the Bierfest has always offered in the pavilion – open every evening for dinner and Sunday and Monday for lunch – where it will also be possible to taste some of the best typical Bavarian dishes. For those who wish, there will also be beer gluten free.
The program
The festival will start with the traditional “Barrel ceremony”, Thursday at 5pm, in Piazzale Weissmatten, which has always hosted the event, followed by the evening of dancing with the orchestra of Federica Cocco. The fun will continue on Friday with the opening of the pavilion at 5pm, where we will continue to celebrate until late at night with the overwhelming folk of the Tirock Band.
Space for Bavarian style music also the following evening on Saturday 22 June with i Dolomiten Bierband who by popular demand return to the Bierfest after last year’s success while on Sunday at lunch the absolute protagonists will be the house musicians of the Haus Band Gaby. At dinner there is an evening of dancing with the Spritz Band.
The grand finale of the 2024 edition will be Monday 24 June when the pavilion will open at 12 and there will be music starting in the afternoon with the Walserjunge Musikante while in the evening it will be Group 3 to close the event in style.
The afternoon will instead be dedicated to folklore with a show of Irish dances and a performance of dances by folk groups from Gressoney, as well as from Switzerland and Alto Adige.
As in previous editions, it will be possible to sleep in the rooms tents set up in the sports field or take advantage of free shuttle serviceavailable on Friday and Saturday evenings, which will carry out both routes in the municipality of Gressoney-Saint-Jean and in the municipality of Gressoney-La-Trinité.
