POWER – The twelfth legislature begins in Basilicata. The Regional Council, elected in the Regional elections of 21 and 22 April, took office today in Potenza. The session was convened and is chaired by the senior councilor, Francesco Cupparo, of Forza Italia. As per the agenda, the assembly is proceeding with the measures for the functioning of the assembly: validation of those elected, election of the president and the presidency office.
Angelo Chiorazzo, founder and regional councilor of the Basilicata Casa Comune movement, the most supported in the April elections, is absent due to a serious health problem. Chiorazzo, a well-known entrepreneur in the cooperation sector, has been hospitalized at the San Carlo hospital in Potenza since Tuesday evening where he presented himself feeling unwell and underwent emergency neurosurgical surgery. Everyone expressed closeness, together with wishes for a speedy recovery.
The president of the Basilicata Region Vito Bardi, re-elected for his second legislature in a row, associated himself with these demonstrations of solidarity in his communications. ”All of us – said Bardi – are close to Angelo Chiorazzo and we expect him to be among us soon, because it is certainly also from the constructive dialogue between the opposition and the majority that the best ideas for the community come out”.
