About a hundred pro-Palestine students “camped” this morning outside the Pisa plaster cast gallery, in the historic center, where a joint session between the academic Senate and the board of directors dedicated to the Middle Eastern conflict is underway. The protest, which takes place in a peaceful and orderly manner, was promoted, say the organizers, “to keep the eyes of public opinion open on the situation in Rafah and on the University of Pisa so that it adopts choices aimed at eliminating scientific research related for military purposes and interrupt collaboration with Israel.” The square has been closed to traffic and is guarded by the police but at the moment the situation is calm. The meeting of the Academic Senate and Board of Directors is still underway and is addressing the topic of the Pisan University’s relations with companies involved in the war supply chain and with academic institutions located in countries involved in war situations.

Meanwhile, the Livorno Antimilitarist Coordination and the Young Palestinians of Florence announce in a note that they will meet tomorrow in Livorno at 5 pm for a demonstration to stop “the genocide suffered and “the war policies of the Italian government in support of Israel”. “Let’s boycott companies that support military occupation!”, they also say, announcing that the protest will be against the logistics company Maersk and in front of its headquarters in Livorno in Scali Rosciano 6 “to confront this company that makes it possible and profits from the massacre of our people in Palestine and the devastation in Gaza!”, “we are calling on Maersk to cut ties to the genocide.” “Maersk is hiding in plain sight — Join us as we tell Maersk this Friday, the mask is off!”, they add.
