ASCOLI PICENO – The Regional General Secretariat of the SIM Carabinieri Marche reports the situation of growing concern regarding the critical operating conditions of the Carabinieri in the territory of the city and province of Ascoli Piceno. A critical issue that concerns all the carabinieri in force in the capital and in the province of Ascoli, but which manifests itself, most clearly, in the mobile radio section of the carabinieri company of the city of Ascoli, which deals with emergency response.
In the evening after 8pm, according to what we hear from colleagues, the control activity of the territory, carried out by that department, is placed at great risk by the absence, for example, of other crews who can support the various interventions carabinieri. Road accidents, family quarrels, brawls, red codes etc…: the daily interventions of colleagues are varied and, in addition to taking away resources from the territory due to the commitment of the various interventions, they risk compromising the health of colleagues who, in order to cope to all needs and guarantee the safety of our communities, constitutionally required rest periods and summer holidays are often missed.
But not only! The imminent arrival of the summer period, with a consequent increase in requests for intervention, risks worsening the situation as the chronic shortage of personnel cannot be addressed only with a high sense of duty, a spirit of sacrifice and dedication to work of colleagues who meet the needs only thanks to extraordinary commitment. This situation is no longer sustainable.
Supporting the alarming picture illustrated by the Regional General Secretariat of the SIM Carabinieri Marche are operating data on the risecompared to last year, which confirm the need to have a monitoring device suited to real operational needs in the evening and which cannot be made up of the crew of the mobile radio section of the Ascoli Piceno company alone.
Furthermore, it would seem, based on the reports we receive from colleagues, that the situation will soon take a turn for the worse. The imminent G7 to be held in Puglia will see the mobile radio section of the Ascoli Piceno company, overnight and without any warning, be reduced by several units which will be destined, albeit provisionally, to operate in Puglia to guarantee the security for the “big boys” of the G7. But who will guarantee the safety of the people of Ascoli? Those few carabinieri left in the departments?
These are questions that the Regional General Secretariat of the SIM Carabinieri Marche intends to ask the Prefect of Ascoli Piceno in the next few days in a meeting aimed at translating, as has already happened in the past, words into concrete facts. For SIM CC, the leading Carabinieri trade union in terms of birth and number of members, an urgent intervention is necessary to check the workload of the military, to ensure that rest and holiday rights are respected and to evaluate any conditions of work stress related, governed by Legislative Decree 81/2008.
For SIM CC, the psychophysical well-being of the Carabinieri must be a priority because only with better working conditions will it be possible to obtain greater results in favor of the safety of our citizens, a priority objective that all the Carabinieri care about.
