Vittoria sets fire to the house and escapes: three people burned

Vittoria – A dramatic event shocked the town of Vittoria during the night. A Tunisian man set fire to his house and then fled. The victims, three of his family members, suffered very serious burns and are currently in critical condition.

Fire Brigade intervention A team from the Vittoria Fire Brigade intervened just before three in the morning in Piazza Unità. The man used an improvised torch, a stick with a rag soaked in flammable liquid on top, to set fire to the building and the resident family members. The Fire Brigade extinguished the flames which had involved household goods in the building, detecting significant damage to the ceilings and false ceilings due to the intense heat. Conditions of the Victims The victims were admitted to different hospitals: two at the Vittoria hospital and one at the Ragusa hospital. Given the severity of the burns, one of the three burned people was transferred by air ambulance to the Large Burns Center in Catania. The agents of the State Police Commissariat are trying to reconstruct what happened in the house located in the Trinità neighborhood near the deconsecrated church. The search for the man who set fire to the house is underway.
