(SAY) Naples, 13 June. – The great mobilization and strike of the metalworkers of Fiom, Fim and Uilm was held today in Caserta in the presence of their respective general secretaries – Michele De Palma, Ferdinando Uliano and Rocco Palombella – to relaunch work and employment in the province. The procession of over 2 thousand workers passed through the streets of the city of Campania to Piazza Dante where the rally of workers from companies in crisis in the Caserta area was held. “It is sad to see that despite the invitations, in addition to the mayor of Marcianise there are no local institutions, mayor and councilors to fight with us for the work of the people of this land”.

Thus Uliano opened his speech from the stage. “What country are we in – asks the trade unionist – where politics is not interested in work and people?”. Then the appeal to the other missing actor: Confindustria. “Where are the entrepreneurs? There is a need – Uliano again – for responsibility and commitment in this land on the part of everyone and I don’t see this attention and interest in Confindustria. We are close and will continue to be close to the workers to support the fight for jobs.” According to the trade unionist’s estimates, there are over 10 thousand local workers involved in various disputes and crises that have been unresolved for years – among these he mentions Soflab, Jabil, Firema, Orefice, Whirlpool, Pcga (ex-Magneti Marelli) Snop, Proma – to which all the other realities of the Caserta related industries and the Campania companies.

As regards the Jabil dispute which was the subject of a summit yesterday at Mimit, the secretary of the CISL metalworkers adds: “we cannot accept the irresponsible behavior of Jabil which took orders from the companies it acquired and then closed them all. And now he wants to do it here in Marcianise too after having done it throughout the country.” “The government of our country – continues Uliano – must demand precise industrial responses from the multinational and assume social responsibility, the same applies to Soflab and other local companies. The latter is causing real damage to workers, the territory and the State. We will ask the Government to verify all responsibilities, including legal ones, for the entire operation. Softlab needs an industrial and working solution.” The comment is on the appeal to the president of the Campania Region Vincenzo De Luca.

“We tell the governor to hold the parades in Rome with metalworkers and give us a hand to invest in this land and relaunch work. Our country is poor in electronic industries. Here in Caserta we have many companies in this sector and specialized workers must be supported with investments and relaunching employment”. Greeting those present, the Fim leader also makes a reference to the automotive industry: “the automotive industry here in Campania has an important presence of production plants and component companies, a sector that must be supported especially in the face of the transitions underway, we need a precise commitment from Stellatis on future supplies”.
