The 18-month-old child who fell from the balcony on the fourth floor of an apartment building in Via Cascina Spelta, on the outskirts of the Lombard town, died last night. Despite the timely intervention of the emergency services, which took him from the internal courtyard of the building to the San Matteo Polyclinic in Pavia, where he was admitted to the resuscitation department, there was nothing for the one and a half year old boy of Congolese origins to do.
The dynamics of the accident
The dynamics that led to the tragedy are still being investigated by the police and forensics who remained at the site for a long time carrying out numerous investigations. At the moment it seems to have been an accident that occurred while the child’s mother was at home. In the fall from over twelve meters high, the child suffered a head injury, a lung injury and various fractures and was already in desperate conditions when help arrived. The causes of the fall remain to be clarified. According to initial hypotheses, it is possible that the little boy may have leaned over the balcony railing while he was playing, falling into the internal courtyard of the condominium.
