20-year-old from Lombardy reported for online fraud in Matera

The Matera State Police notifies the notice of conclusion of the preliminary investigations

Matera, 13 June 2024 – The State Police of Matera has served the notice of conclusion of the preliminary investigations, issued by the Public Prosecutor’s Office of Matera, against a twenty-year-old from Lombardy accused of aggravated fraud committed online. According to the investigative reconstruction of the Flying Squad, the young woman would have contacted by telephone a man from Matera, who had put a moped up for sale at the price of 800 euros on a well-known online advertising platform. The woman, through her deception, convinced the victim that she would receive the agreed sum directly into her current account, inducing him instead to top up 1,472.38 euros on a prepaid card in her name. After making the top-up, the man did not receive the promised money and thus realized that he had been scammed. After contacting the State Police, the woman was identified and reported to the judicial authorities. In respect of the rights of the person under investigation and the presumption of innocence, further trial checks are awaited to confirm the facts.
