The president of the Teatro del Giglio in Lucca Giorgio Angelo Lazzarini announced that “For the centenary of Puccini’s death we are thinking of changing the name of our theater and dedicating it to the composer. This is our intention because we think it is our duty to do so like many other theaters that have remembered their illustrious fellow citizens in this way.”

The Giglio theatre, recognized as Tradition theater with its 350 years of life, it has become a sacred place for opera lovers from all over the world because Puccini, although very close to Torre del Lago, was born in Lucca and oversaw the staging and presentation of some of his works in that theater.
