“Clear political proposals and cohesion pay off”

The mayor of Legnano is satisfied with the results of a vote that gives confidence to his administration

If we want to do a reasoning on what emerged from the polls in our territory, better to start from Legnanoa large center from which to look at Europe but also at what happened in the closest places that have renewed mayors and city councilors.

Despite the concerns “of the day before”, which were spreading among the Dems, the center close to them and the left, in the end the European elections decreed a substantial draw, with the major parties advancing (Fratelli d’Italia and Pd) bringing a bipolarism is on the rise that cuts out small acronyms that have not reached four percent, including Popular Alternative (not even 1%!) despite its leader Paolo Alli being well known in the city. Giving breath back to the Green Left Alliance which brings home an excellent, and perhaps unexpected, result (here is our article).

Let’s leave the word to the first citizen of Legnano, Lorenzo Radicewho has clear ideas about this last round which he judges positively for his team.

Let’s start with the numbers…
“The results of these elections demonstrate, incontrovertibly, two things: clear political proposals pay and cohesion pays. The fact that all government parties and those opposition parties that have a recognizable and coherent political line are gaining consensus with respect to the latest policies is a sign that voters want to have certainties when they cast a vote. Strengthening the image of a party, perhaps through the figure of its leader or secretary, is the basis for maintaining or even increasing consensus”.

“In addition to a clear and recognizable political proposal, the compactness of the coalitions which, whether centre-right or centre-left, have seen the conquest or reconfirmation in the Municipalities in the administrative session is worth it”.

The leading party, however, remains abstention, which is increasingly high
“We can no longer limit ourselves to making considerations on an abstentionism that increases with each electoral round: we must convince ourselves that this is the real pool with which those involved in politics must speak seriously”.

There are names that pay more than others
“They pay for the media candidacies of people who, in their lives, may not have practiced politics, but can count on a following which, often, is independent of specific skills linked to activity in institutional offices”.

Let’s start from the venue, Legnano and its surroundings
“I can only underline that the Democratic Party in Legnano obtains one of the best results in our territory (very close to 24%, therefore) and that the consensus of the political forces attributable to the majority holds, therefore, probably, the voters have rewarded what the administration is achieving”.

“It’s obvious that Legnano is the only municipality in the area where the centre-right has less than 50%. In light of the sometimes conflicting results between the European and municipal elections in the cities where voting was also held for the renewal of the mayor and the city council, it is important to note that the electorate evaluates carefully based on the nature of the consultations ”.

Compactness wins, divisions lose?
“The compactness of the coalition and continuity of the project, even with changing mayoral candidates, are elements appreciated by the electorate, both on the right and on the left. And, in this regard, speaking of my side, I want to congratulate the winning candidates, who brought a concrete, pragmatic and progressive proposal”.
