The stars of Girasole di Montemarciano shine at Piazza di Siena in Villa Borghese and at the Marche regional championship in Cattolica. The historic equestrian center led by Andrea Messersì highlighted its talents in Rome, from 24 to 26 May, but also from 31 May to 2 June at the Regionals.
Specifically, for Piazza di Siena the federal coach Antonio Tabarini selected for the Marche of president Gabriella Moroni five pairs who represented the region in the team competition, and of these five three were from the Girasole Team, namely Angela Criscuoli, Marina Adamo, and Riccardo Cardini Brunetti.
At the Villa Borghese championships, a long-awaited and historic equestrian event, the Marche region ranked fifth among the regional selections, and the best thirty individual times then made up the final race. In the junior final, with obstacles all at 125 cm, fifteen-year-old Angela Criscuoli from Ancona ranked sixth, achieving a great result at national level which brought prestige and satisfaction to Girasole.
A sign of great health of the club which was then also confirmed at the regional championships, in which Girasole achieved a series of excellent results: in the Amazons championship Giulia Mattioli obtained second place, in the junior championship Girasole achieved a double with Angela Criscuoli first and Ilaria Grilli second, in the pony hopefuls category Riccardo Cardini Brunetti took first place, in the horse debutantes category Sofia Carlini came first, in the pony chicks Sara Esposto came in third place, in the pony first steps category Martina Mazzoni won the third step of the podium, while in the dressage championship Maria Chiara Bolletta came second.
“Our school tries to create agonists – explains Andrea Messersì – and each of the kids has very specific objectives, sports project, regional championship, Piazza di Siena, Verona, and then to have high-level students who can participate in the European championships and so on. Over the years our school has led pairs to win Piazza di Siena, Verona, as in 2010, and over the years we have taken many of them to the European championships. The results achieved in recent years at Girasole are excellent and we can be satisfied We try to identify high-performance subjects for each category and over the years we have also worked in the young horses sector. We are a 360 degree professional school and the results of the Piazza di Siena and the Regionals confirm this even if the regional stage is a departure for us. it is not an objective, to verify the situation of the couples who then have higher ambitions and objectives, at a national and international level”.
