On Friday 14 June, at 4 pm, in the “Caduti di Nassiriya” room in the province of Savona, the Proceedings of the “Gabriello Chiabrera” conference will be presented. Proceedings of the historical conference in the 470th anniversary of birth”, organized on 22 November 2022 by the Savonese Society of Homeland History with the patronage of the municipality of Savona and the “Renzo Aiolfi” Association.
This is a monographic volume published in the “Sources and Studies” series of the Savonese Society of Homeland History (vol. 14), which reports the conference reports. The first two reports (Fulvio Bianchi and Simona Morando) focus on biographical and literary aspects of Chiabrera; that of Gustavo Malvezzi on musical aspects. The book closes with Silvia Bottaro’s intervention on Chiabrera’s biography.
At the conference, held two years ago, some of the most prestigious scholars of Gabriello Chiabrera’s works met in the Red Room of the Municipality of Savona. We also wanted to better understand the state of studies in the artistic sectors in which Gabriello Chiabrera had worked: poetry, literary work and collaboration with the musicians of the time. The audience was also involved with significant unpublished works.
This contributed to celebrating the 470th anniversary of the birth of Gabriello Chiabrera (Savona, 1552-1638), an eminent poet and leading figure in Italian culture between the 16th and 17th centuries.
The studies contained in the publication (Collana di Fonti e Studi, vol. 14) aim to be an update and in-depth analysis of Chiabresque studies, hoping that they constitute a further stimulus to know and disseminate at all levels an emblematic figure, eminent poet and prominent figure of Italian culture between the 16th and 17th centuries, linked to the Savona area.
